Last Term’s News ….

We had one of our busiest half term’s to date last term.  It was full of excitement and hard work.  Many pupils took their ISTD exams in Modern, Tap and Ballet and passed with flying colours!!  We are all very proud of their results – Well done!

Our Christmas Concert was extremely successful and we have never seen the church so full!  Thankyou for your continued support.  It was so lovely to witness once again the wealth of talent at the school at such a festive event.  We certainly got into the Christmas spirit!

On the last week of term LBDA raised money for Children with Cancer and wore their PJ’s to class all week!  Not only was it very comfortable we also raised £170.00!  Thank you to everyone who contributed.

Over 60 of our junior pupils attended the LBDA Christmas party and a great time was had by all.  The children made a huge effort with their costumes and they danced their socks off! We were even visited by the big man himself!  A huge thank you to KT’s Parties for organising such a great event.

At the end of November 16 pupils from LBDA began rehearsals at the Churchill Theatre for their annual pantomime ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarves’ starring Jessie Wallace.  The children were outstanding in terms of talent and behaviour and were a real credit to LBDA.  One newspaper review quoted LBDA pupils as being “adorable in every way” and we couldn’t agree more.

The children performed 51 shows in total over the Christmas period and I would like to thank all the parents who chaperoned during this time.  A big well done to the following pupils; Lily Martin, Bella Perdoni, Efi Michael, Lola Kukczykajtis, Ella Duroe, Charlotte Breen, Polly Holmes, Layla Coward, Daisy Martynksi, Sienna Robinson, Savannah Robinson, Francesca Robinson, Saffron Watmore, Millie Goodman, Cayla Keith and Daisy Bissell.

Our lovely Vaidile has been busy over the Christmas period as well, performing in ‘Matilda’.  Vaidile has been offered a second contract so we look forward to organising a school outing in the summer term to see her in action.  The very talented, Sophie Young, has also been rehearsing for the ‘Matilda’ tour and the wonderful Hannah ‘Hotpants’ has recently been cast in the West End Production of ‘Annie’.

LBDA was also invited to perform our ‘Nutcracker’ piece at St Clements Danes Church on the Strand this Christmas.  It was a very prestigious event and I think both parents and children enjoyed the night immensely.  Well done to all involved  - absolutely professional as always.

The Term Ahead ….

We have book our next ISTD Modern and Tap Exam Session for Sunday 18th and 25th March 2018 and pupils will be notified this half term if we think they are ready to take their next exam.  Drama pupils will also be working towards their LAMDA exams but the date is yet to be confirmed.

Our annual Talent Show, ‘LBDA has Talent’, will take place on Saturday 11th March at Wickham Halls, Sussex Road, West Wickham from approximately 3-6pm.  All pupil are invited and highly encouraged to take part in this event which will raise money for our chosen charity.  There will be medals for all who participate as well as special prizes for memorable numbers.  There will be guest judges and you may be asked to perform your piece in our summer show at the Stag Theatre.  We would like as many of you as possible to get involved and showcase your talent so get your thinking caps on now and let’s make this our biggest and best ‘LBDA’s Got Talent’ yet!

53 pupils and their families are off to see ‘Annie’ at the Piccadilly Theatre on Monday 12th February to watch Hannah play the role of July.  We are all very excited and I am sure we will support Hannah in our usual LBDA style!

Date for your diary – this year’s summer show is taking place at the Stag Theatre on Saturday and Sunday 7th and 8th July 2018.  This show will not involve the whole school as we do a main show every 2 years.  Pupils will be notified in due course if they will be involved in this show but we do not tend to have the younger ones in this year’s show.  It would be great if you could keep the weekend free.

There have been a few changes to the timetable this term so please check your invoices.

We have a new Baby Ballet Class starting on a Monday so please email if you are interested in joining this class.  We also have spaces in our Boy’s Jazz Class so please also let us know if you would like a free trial class.

Polite Notice: Fees are due at the beginning of term.  Please ensure you have paid your child’s fees by bank transfer before their first class.

The whole team at LBDA are looking forward to seeing each and every one of you and can’t wait for another great term.

Kindest regards

Miss Laura and the LBDA Team
